What is Absent or Distance Healing?

There are different schools of thought as to whether the term ABSENT, DISTANCE, or DISTANT healing should be used.

Whilst the IPSC is not dogmatic in this respect, it should be realised that the only absence is the physical presence or togetherness of both the Healer and the Client.

The “Healing Energy” is the same; therefore, it may be appropriate and better understood by Clients if the terms Absent Healing is used.

Many people seem to regard this form of healing as second rate, however, it must be emphasised that Absent Healing can be just as effective as Contact Healing. This has been demonstrated time and time again, when no physical contact has been made. Yet people, who were very ill, have reported a marked improvement and benefit from this type of intercession. What is important for people to recognise is the mechanics of this form of healing. Then its effectiveness will be understood. Absent Healing can be practiced by an individual Healer or by a group of people, of which some Healers must be present. In either case, the processes of intercession or mediation are the same

The individual Healer who sets aside time on a regular basis to practice Absent Healing may well keep a list of names of the people that have requested this form of healing. Requests may come verbally from the person or from a friend acting on their behalf. Others may write to the Healer. The Healer or Healing Group can accept any method of referral. Healing is given on Monday Nights at the IPSC and the qualified and trainee healers, just like an individual Healer the group should accept verbal or written requests.

A time is set aside for the group to observe a “Healing Silence” for a short while every day at a specified time, (usually 7.30pm).

We also encourage Clients to sit quietly at this time also, instructing them to link into the thoughts of the group or healer.

At the recognised time for the group to meet or for the individual Healer to practice, certain rules apply: the place set aside for the meeting, and it must be remembered that it is not just a meeting of the group or the Healer, but also of the Healing Guides and Helpers, is as quiet and as far as possible free from disturbances.

The list of those wishing absent healing ,including their names and the area where they live are put in our “Absent Healing Book". A prayer of protection and guidance for the directing of the healing is said, followed by a period of silence so that the Healers can attune with their Healing Guides.

At a public event such as a Church Service only the names are read aloud and they are never rushed,  each name spoken should be concentrated upon for several seconds. Once all the names on the list have been mentioned, another short time of silence will be held, and finally, followed by one of our Healing Songs.

If you would like Absent Healing for yourself, a relative or someone else who is close to you, or a pet (please state what type e.g. Bess the Dog) you can email their details including name, the general area where they live (i.e. Liverpool or Merseyside) and their condition using the form on our "Absent Healing Lists" page.
